EDUCATION/TRAINING Dr. Bacow is a graduate of Brown University and received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Boston University. While in Boston, Dr. Bacow trained under David Barlow at the Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders, a clinic well-known in Massachusetts for assisting individuals with a range of anxiety and mood disorders. She is an expert in working with children, adolescents and families, as well as adult therapy. Dr. Bacow completed her internship in clinical psychology at Long Island Jewish Medical Center on the Child and Adolescent Track. During this internship, she provided clinical services to children and adolescents in several outpatient and inpatient rotations. In addition to her clinical experience, she has also been a special lecturer for psychiatry residents in cognitive-behavioral therapy.
HER SPECIALTY/APPROACH Dr. Bacow's specialties include cognitive-behavioral therapy for mood, anxiety and eating disorders. She also has a special interest in parenting support, including prenatal and postpartum mental health and parent training for child/adolescent behavioral difficulties. Dr. Bacow is committed to utilizing treatments with supported efficacy with individuals of all ages and has published several papers related to anxiety and eating/weight research topics. Dr. Bacow has particular expertise in treating anxiety, mood and eating disorders, ADHD, and providing cognitive-behavioral therapy, schema therapy, family therapy and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) skills training to clients she works with.
